Welcome back, now i will explain about Caption Text

A caption is a short text above or below an image in a book, magazine, or newspaper that describes the image or explains what the person in it did or said.

While citing Vocabulary.com, a caption is a brief description accompanying an illustration.  Caption is a short description that accompanies the illustration.

Caption in the form of additional information which is usually located under the image or photo.  Usually the caption only consists of a few words or sentences.

Caption social function

Captions have a social function, namely to provide basic information about an object.

Even though it's short, writing a caption can't be arbitrary.  It takes language that is interesting but still informative so that what is in the picture can be conveyed properly.

Caption writing structure

Captions are not written arbitrarily.  There is a structure for writing captions so that what is in the picture is conveyed properly, namely:

1. Opening
The opening is usually written in a larger size to attract the attention of the reader.

2. Content
Content contains concise information to explain the image.

3. Closing
The closing part is usually in the form of additional information that has not been conveyed in the content.

Linguistic elements caption

 In order to be informative, captions should be written in simple present tense and sentences that are simple and easy to understand.

Example :

Better to prevent COVID-19 than to cure it.
The COVID-19 patient is restless in the ICU bedroom with ventilators and oxygen.

Terjemahan:

Lebih baik mencegah COVID-19 daripada mengobatinya.
Pasien COVID-19 terbaring di kamar ICU dengan ventilator dan oksigen.

COUCLUSION

Caption text is a short text that is above, below or in the image as a complement to the image.  Many people think that captions are the same as quotes, even though they are different.  Quotes are usually just text without pictures but can also include pictures.  The difference between a caption and a quote is that a quote is a quote that is usually taken from a book, song or dialogue in a film and is accompanied by the name of the author.  While the caption is writing that is made to explain the image.  Captions are used as a means of expression on social media.
